April Meeting | Dacia Cunningham
Most people are a bundle of nerves and, under pressure of their own making, say the same things, fidget, and fail in interviews. That self-imposed pressure and anxiety comes from a lack of information, preparation, and self-awareness. Dacia Cunningham has studied and taught job skills/interview skills for 15 years and is passionate about helping others succeed in interviewing and securing positions of their dreams. In this talk, she will discuss nonverbal communication, preparation, and tips/tricks anyone can employ to interview for success.
Dacia Cunningham is a Career Faculty Fellow and Assistant Professor of English at Tulsa Community College. She teaches Comp I and Comp II classes with a career-focused curriculum. She has taught job skills in higher education for 15 years; she has also worked as a Career Services Advisor and has served on a higher education hiring team. Teaching job skills is Dacia’s passion; her favorite subjects include nonverbal communication, cover letters, resumes, reference lists, and interview skills. She also dabbles in writing, has some published writings, and teaches Creative Writing courses at TCC – including Novel Writing, Intro to Creative Writing, and Poetry Writing. Dacia and her husband, Patrick, are West-siders in Tulsa.
