WORKSHOP: The Responsibility of Poets in Society w/ Phetote Mshairi

July 13 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm $25
Phetote will conduct this 3-hour session designed to delve into the crucial role poets play in chronicling history as it happens, shaping societal narratives, and fostering change. We believe that poets are not just creators of beautiful verses, but we are also thinkers, philosophers, and influencers who can touch hearts, provoke thoughts, and inspire actions.
The workshop will be divided into three interactive segments, each focusing on a key aspect of writing and reciting poetry. The first segment, Crafting Imagery, will guide students on how to paint vivid pictures with words, enabling their audience to visualize their thoughts. The second segment, Emotional Connectivity, will explore how to tap into personal and universal emotions to create a deep connection with the reader or listener. The final segment, The Power of Delivery, will be a hands-on session where students will learn and practice various recitation techniques to bring their poems to life. Each segment will involve engaging activities, peer-to-peer feedback, and opportunities for students to share their work, ensuring a comprehensive and interactive learning experience.
